I tucked into a full English breakfast for the third time in a row. Town Coffee 2.0 is a discovery that has solved all my problems – and by all my problems I mean just one but the most important one. Where can I get nice English food that isn’t spicy? Ever since I was so horribly sick I have found the mere thought of Indian food hard to stomach.
But as it turns out Jaipur suits my needs much more than I first expected. The full English at Town Coffee 2.0 is addictive. The baked beans are done in a herby sauce. The sausages are chicken sausages. And the hash browns are a nice bonus. But, as I was soon to find out, Town Coffee 2.0 is not the only place where Jaipur takes on British Cuisine.
I went for a walk and checked-in to my new hostel which is much nicer than The Hosteller. The bathroom doesn’t reek of stale piss which is amazing.
Then, after more trekking on the often-stressful streets of Jaipur I surrendered to the allure of the Roastery Coffee House and ordered myself fish and chips with macaroni cheese for dinner. No, I did not order these two things separately, they came together as a single dish. This bread-crumbed fish sitting atop a thick bed of cheesy pasta with fries on the side, was goofy over-the-top comfort food. Mac n cheese & Fish n chips: two original British staples squashed together on a single plate. Quite frankly, Jaipur is smashing British cuisine out of the park.
But Jaipur doesn’t just take on British Cuisine… Take this spaghetti pesto soup that is so unauthentic-ally Italian – but in my shitty opinion – so much better. I enjoyed it more than most of the pasta dishes I had in Rome. This joyous supper was none other than another meal from Town Coffee 2.0 earlier this week.
It has been a slow ascent to liveliness after my horrible sickness. Despite being better for a few days my motivation to travel seems to have evaporated and my exploration of Jaipur – despite being here for almost a week – has been limited to strolling through parks and seeking out more new restaurants where I can get biscoff cheesecakes as good as the one they serve in Town Coffee 2.0
The question remains however when will I regain my motivation to travel and pull myself away from Jaipur’s marvelous eateries?
