Indore is best known for its exceptional cleanliness and mesmerizing street food markets. A proper foodie hub. But what is Indore’s Best Cafe?
The vibrant Chappan Dukan – a resplendent lane lined with street food stalls – is perhaps the highlight of the city. As delicious as Chappan Dukan may sound, there is one single cafe at the very end of the street, that makes it worth resisting all its seductive smells. (If you’re capable of such a thing). And that is none other than the Habit Coffee Lounge.
I have spoken about the delights and delicacies of Chappan Dukan in another post, and you can read that here. However, in this post I will be imparting to you the joy of an afternoon at the Habit Coffee Lounge. Is this Indore’s best Cafe?
The Habit Coffee Lounge is not a huge space and most of the places to sit are around the sides of the cafe. However there are a few plug sockets which are really handy for making this place home for a good few hours, and this is consolidated by astonishingly cheap and mouthwatering snacks as well as tasty hot and cold coffee selections. Let me give you a nice, good, caffeinated run-down…
Meet the Habit Coffee Lounge’s Veggie Burger! This is no tame sandwich. It’s thick with melted cheese and onion and bolstered with blobs of mushy avocado amid an assortment of other ingredients, which, I cannot name but can attest: they make this one hell of a damn good veggie burger.

Don’t tell me you can’t already taste it.
The only thing it’s missing is a good dollop of spicy mint sauce which they almost always serve with veggie sandwiches in India.
Upon my return to the Habit Coffee Lounge I went even bigger, ordering the veggie burger with a side of spring rolls.
This is a humble yet a HUGE breakfast and it cost me so little. The Habit Coffee Lounge is truly excellent value… and now let’s get into that a little more.
The Habit Coffee Lounge is constantly putting on new deals and meal combos. As of right now (15th August 2023) their instagram page is advertising the monsoon combo: Crispy peanut chaat, a triple layered sandwich, a side of french fries and a thick cold coffee. All for just 99 rupees! (99p)
Scrolling further through their incredible instagram feed will reveal to you some of their snazzy brews, like the vanilla mocha iced coffee and the green apple shake.
With staff that are overwhelmingly friendly, (I had a great chat with the manager there both times I was in) nice views of the resplendent Chappan Dukan outside, great snacks as delicious as they are cheap, the Habit Coffee Lounge easily usurps big coffee chains in India like Starbucks and Cafe Coffee Day, in terms of value for money, and in the case of Cafe Coffee Day, definitely in the quality of their savoury snacks.
Does that make it Indore’s best Cafe? I could only claim that if I’d been to every cafe in Indore, and of course I haven’t. What makes Habit Coffee Lounge the best cafe I’ve been to in Indore, is it’s unbeatable value for money.
With all this precious information brought to light, it would be a shame to miss out on the peace and cheer of Habit Coffee Lounge on Chappan Dukan in Indore. India’s cleanest and perhaps tastiest, city.
